Hi Kosmos Members!
We have had quite a summer with all this heat. My heart goes out to the many firefighters, including my son-in-law, who have spent most of their summer battling fires.
But cooler days are with us now. Fall is a great time to get out to our Kosmos events with the weather being so much more enjoyable.
Our Labor Day picnic can be a great opportunity to get outdoors and socialize with Kosmos friends. There is also a chance that you can win money at our horse race event that day. Bring your dollars and bet on the horse that you think will win.
Also, it will be a great time to renew your membership for another year. Wishing you all a wonderful September!
—Sue R., Kosmos Leader

Although there is a lot of seating in the Gazebo, feel free to bring your own chairs. Also, bring what you want to drink, but keep in mind that this is a Corps of Engineers park, and alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
Remember to bring and wear your name tags so everyone will know who you are!
Horse races will be held, so be sure to bring your dollar bills to get in on this fun event!
Please plan to come socialize at our good old-fashioned Labor Day picnic!!!

Village Bistro
5215 W. Clearwater Ave.

To standardize the day and time of our monthly breakfast, we've settled on the second or third Monday of the month (depending on the number of Mondays in the month) and a 9:30 AM gathering time, which some members have said is a better time.
Leader Sue R. is hosting. Our breakfasts will rotate among Kosmos member favorites like this month's Village Bistro, as well as Andy's Coffee Break (both in Kennewick), Sterling's at Queensgate, and Andy's North in Pasco.

You will be notified of the chosen movie title and movie time in our Sunday e-mail announcements, or by phone call, prior to September 18. Those who take in the movie often decide to go somewhere nearby for happy hour or dinner after the movie.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Miami Dolphins*
West Richland
12:30 PM (Game time: 1:05 PM)
Here's something new for members who are football fans. Once a month, let's get together, bring our favorite snacks and beverage, and cheer our Seattle Seahawks on as we watch the game together.
We will meet at Sue R.'s apartment complex recreation room. Sue asks that everyone meet at the rec room at 12:30 PM so that we all can get settled prior to game time at 1:05 PM. For sports fans who get serious about watching their game, please note: There's a room where the game will be viewed and a separate room where we will set out our snacks and beverages and be able to chat.
Our first football party will have the Seahawks squaring up against the Miami Dolphins. [*Editor's Note: We were misinformed last month and incorrectly announced that the Seahawks would be playing the Detroit Lions that day.]
If this proves popular, we'll do these football parties once a month through January.

Tee Time
2203 W. 4th St.
Kennewick
2:00 PM
We've a fun afternoon planned at the new Tee Time, the largest indoor mini-golf facility in Washington, on Sunday, October 6th. It's located in the Midtown Plaza in Kennewick, at the corner of 4th and Vancouver.
Besides an 18-hole miniature golf course, they have arcade games, shuffleboard and pool tables, a bar, and snacks. It should make for a fun day!!!
All the details will be in your October Kosmos Konnector.
Saturday, October 12
Affinity at Southridge
5207 W. Hildebrand Blvd.
Kennewick
12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM
Our annual Fall Frolic is a fun time for one last outdoor gathering before the weather gets a little cooler. It will be held on the covered outdoor patio at Affinity at Southridge.
We need a few volunteers to provide chili for our Fall Frolic. Please notify Carolyn W. if you'd like to provide a batch of your special chili for all to try!
Those not bring chili are asked to bring chili "condiments" and "go-withs", such as shredded cheese, sour cream, diced onions, Fritos® or nacho chips, cornbread, or appetizers or desserts. Hot dogs and buns will be provided by the club for those who want chili dogs.
Details and directions will be in the October Kosmos Konnector, but mark your calendar now to attend.
Roger J. is getting several members together who have expressed interest in playing pool or darts and/or shuffleboard. He'll invite them for the first outing or two at one of our local pubs. Once the "bugs" are worked out to ensure all will have a fun time, we'll add this kind of social event to our monthly activities calendar so more members can participate.
We are always looking for people to host events in their homes or community clubhouses. It is a great way to get to know more of your Kosmos friends! Kosmos provides the supplies (napkins, paper plates, and both serving and eating utensils, and even access to two card tables and 8 chairs, if needed). Everyone brings food to share. Members RSVP so the hosts can establish a size limit for their homes or community facilities.
For example, we need a host for our February Super Bowl Party. We also welcome ideas for any other activities or events you'd like to host at your home!
Please contact Sue R. or Carolyn W. if you are interested in hosting!
Kosmos Social Club annual membership fees are now due for the 2024-25 year. If you don't have your renewal in yet, please do so as soon as possible or bring it to our Labor Day Picnic!
Membership forms were sent out in July with the Kosmos Konnector, but are also available from any Board member or on our website, www.kosmossocialclub.com. Your 2024-25 membership renewal, accompanied by a new membership form, can be mailed in or given to any Leader at any Kosmos event or activity.
