Hi, Kosmos Friends!
Daylight Savings comes back this month on March 8th, bringing us longer days and more sunlight, which I personally look forward to!!! Plus, March 20th is the first day of Spring!
Some other events going on in March are International Women's Day, which happens to coincide this year with the time change on March 8th. Then there's the NCAA's "March Madness," played by teams from universities and colleges across the country—good to know if you are a basketball fan.
For Kosmos members, there's also our St. Patrick's Day Party, March 14th, which Claudia T. will be hosting at her home. Come and join us for a great social meal and fun conversation. All the details are in this newsletter, so please take the time to check it out.
Also take a few minutes to review your calendar and plan to join your Kosmos friends at some of our activities or meals.
—Donna W., Kosmos Leader
To quote Christopher Robin:
Thursday, March 5
SportsPage
6 S. Cascade St.
Kennewick
Lunch: 12:00 Noon
Meeting: 1:00 PM
Please consider coming to our Board Meeting to give us your ideas for places to eat and other activities you would like to see the Club offer!
All Kosmos members are welcome to attend Board Meetings, so come join us for lunch or the meeting—or both.
Attendance has sadly fallen dramatically lately at our monthly happy hour meals, lunch, and breakfast social outings. While these are not the only activities we offer, they are at the heart of our Club's mission to bring members together in informal settings for socializing, having conversation, and making new friends.
We especially encourage members to come to the SportsPage for our monthly dinner there on the second Wednesday of each month. The SportsPage owners are incredibly supportive of our Club, and they reserve the room just for us, at no charge. We would like to continue to stay in good standing with them, as well as with the other restaurants that we frequently patronize.
We recognize that inclement weather can sometimes be a detriment for some members in getting to these happy hour, lunch, or breakfast social events. If you find yourself worried about traveling, please consider carpooling with other members to ease the burden and stress.
Let's help each other get out more often to socialize!
Saturday, March 14
Pasco
11:30 AM
We hope you've marked your calendar and plan to attend our annual St. Patrick's Day Party. The meal will be followed by the March Game Day. The festivities start with a traditional corned beef and cabbage meal at 11:30 AM, on March 14, at Claudia T.'s home in Pasco.
Kosmos will provide the corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes—being prepared by Sandy R. and Donna W. Please bring an appetizer, salad, complementry side dish, or dessert to share, plus your own drinks. In addition, the Club will provide some pepperoni/cheese pizza for those who don't care for the traditional corned beef menu.
Nearly 30 members enjoyed last year's St. Patrick's Day Party!
To ensure that enough seats are available at the tables, you must please RSVP to Claudia by phone call, text, or E-mail no later than March 11!!!
Those who wish to stay after the meal can play a variety of games that are available as usual for our Game Days!
For more details about this and other newsletter items, please see the postal mail or E-mail versions of this newsletter.
Secretary Carolyn G. has had to resign her position on the Kosmos Board due to serious family health issues requiring her full attention.
Being Secretary involves attending all Board Meetings and any special meetings called by the Board, taking notes at the meetings and then typing them up, creating or replying to correspondence such as thank-you letters, and archiving information as requested by the Board.
Also, as we announced in last month's Kosmos Konnector, we need someone to step up to take the lead in planning our monthly events to replace longtime Activities Leader Carolyn W.
The Activities Leader doesn't do the job alone. He or she works with other members, plus the Calling, Games, Reservations, and Supplies Coordinators, to come up with activities, places to visit, and restaurants to meet at for happy hours or other mealtimes.
Both of these positions require computer, typing, and E-mail skills.
If you could help fill either of thise critical leadership roles, please contact any one of the Leaders on the Kosmos Board. Contact information is shown on the Board listing in the E-mail and postal mail versions of this newsletter.
