Hi, Kosmos Friends!
I'm happy to welcome our new Board Leaders and Coordinators for our 2025-2026 Kosmos year. Thank you all for volunteering your time in keeping our Club together!
This month is the time to renew your annual membership of $25. If you wish to have your calendar and newsletter mailed to you each month, the cost will be $20 more for the year.
I encourage each of you to keep your calendar handy so that you know what is going on and what events you would like to attend. The newsletters contain a lot of information that is not on the calendars. The more meals and events you attend, the better your chance of getting to know our group and making some great friends.
I hope you're enjoying the Summer, despite the heat at times. There are a lot of activities going on in the Tri-Cities. I look forward to seeing you during the year ahead.
—Donna W., Kosmos Leader

We especially invite all Kosmos members to join those of us who always attend the Thursday night "Tough Enough To Wear Pink" rodeo honoring breast cancer survivors. Wear pink on Thursday, August 21, to show your support.
Prior to the rodeo, we'll gather Thursday afternoon in the 3 Eyed Fish Wine Garden & Tap House at the Fair to visit after shopping for our fair-food dinner. Thursday also features "$3 for a Bite" at all food stands from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Check the Fair brochure, when you enter, for details on these inexpensive deals on food!!!
The rodeo starts at 7:00 PM. Please note that all rodeo seats are reserved! You can visit the Fair Office at 812 W. Washington St., Pasco, or Kennewick Ranch & Home to purchase tickets, or call the Fair Office at 509-222-3749. You can also buy your tickets online for an additional processing fee. Several Kosmos members have already reserved seats for August 21 in the Sundown covered grandstand Section I.
Please do come join us!!! YEE-HAW!!!
Note: Wynonna Judd is the Main Stage concert star for the evening, if the rodeo isn't your thing.
A single-day admission to the Fair is $5.00 for seniors (65+). You can purchase a combination Fair admission and bus pass for the same price of $5.00. The bus is the very best way to go to the Fair. The rodeo tickets are an extra $10.00. (All prices shown are for seniors, 65+.)

Hood Park Main Gazebo
Burbank, WA
Social Hour: 12:00 Noon
Lunch: 1:00 PM
The festivities begin at noon with checking-in and socializing. The main meal will begin at 1:00 PM. Kosmos will provide fried chicken, as well as all serving utensils, plates, and tableware.
You are asked to bring appetizers, salads, or desserts to go with the chicken. Please have all desserts pre-cut to serve!
Although there is a lot of seating in the Gazebo, feel free to bring your own chairs. Also bring what you want to drink, but keep in mind that this is a Corps of Engineers park—alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
Please remember to bring and wear your name tags so everyone will know who you are.
Horse races will be held, so be sure to bring your dollar bills to get in on this fun event!
Please plan to come socialize at our good old-fashioned Labor Day picnic!!!
Directions: Go east on Hwy. 12 toward Walla Walla, cross the Snake River bridge, take the first exit, then go right at the roundabout to cross the highway to Route 124. You'll see the sign to turn left to Hood Park; turn there, then head into the park at the first right. Turn left in the parking lot at the Kosmos sign. The Main Gazebo will be on your right. (Handicapped parking is available by going straight instead of left, and opening the gate to drive down next to the Gazebo.)
Kosmos has a Facebook page, where photos are posted from all our events and many of our restaurant outings—and often last-minute reminders are posted there too!
If you're already on Facebook and a member of Kosmos, we invite you to join our page so you can see all the photos and posts, and make Kosmos-related posts of your own, or comment on events you've attended, if you're so inclined!
Simply search on Facebook, under Groups, for Kosmos Social Club, and request to join. Sharon G., our Facebook Administrator, will then get your request, and she will approve any bona fide (membership-paying) Kosmos member. It is as simple as that!!!
Note: It will help if you also send Sharon a text or phone message to let her know you've submitted a request so she can be sure to respond as promptly as possible to get you into the Kosmos Facebook group!
A special THANK YOU goes out to Sandy R. for all her years of dedication, support, and hard work for the Kosmos Social Club in the various leadership positions that she has held throughout the years.
Sandy joined Kosmos in February 2000 and is now stepping down as the Kosmos Coordinator of E-mailing for the newsletters, calendars, and weekly reminders.
Starting this August, there will no longer be weekly e-mail reminders sent out, so please keep your newsletters and calendars handy, because that's where you'll find all the information for the month!
Beginning in August, Donna W. will be e-mailing out the newsletters and calendars and notices of what movie is chosen for the 3rd Wednesday of the month, plus any last-minute cancellations or changes taking place with the Club's activities.
Members who pay extra to receive print copies of the newsletter and calendar will be notified by Calling Coordinator Nancy T. with a phone call about any changes to the calendar activities or newsletter information, and of the monthly movie matinee details.
We look forward to visiting and seeing each of you at some of our breakfasts, lunches, or dinners. If you have favorite places that you like to eat at, please let us know and we will incorporate them into our calendars.
You can submit your ideas for new activities to Carolyn W., by phone or by e-mail.
The reason we have cut back on the number of monthly meals is due to the lack of attendance; your input would be very helpful!
Kosmos has four picnics a year, plus a Christmas party, Saint Patrick's Day party, and a Super Bowl party. Once a month we have a Game Day, and also alternate each month with a Bingo or a Bunco party at the Richland Library.
We also gather as a group for those interested in going to a Tri-City Americans hockey game at the Toyota Center during the Fall and Winter months and Tri-City Dust Devils baseball games at the GESA Stadium during the Spring and Summer months.
We are interested in your ideas about events you might like to see the Club participate in!!!
Saturday, September 13
On With The Show
Pasco Eagles
2829 W. Sylvester Street
Pasco
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Gloria E., who is a Kosmos member and one of our Game Day Coordinators, and Diane Larson, whom many of you know, are putting on their annual benefit show with costumed dancers from the Chicks, Divas, and Country Line Dancers. There will also be singing performances.
On With The Show will benefit local animal shelters, and will be held at the Pasco Eagles on Saturday, September 13. Doors will open at 3:15 PM; the performance starts at 4:00 PM.
Tickets for this worthy cause are $12, and can be purchased from Sandi F., Diane L., or Gloria E. You can also purchase tickets at the door, but they prefer that you purchase them ahead of time, as they may sell out. The tickets will be available beginning August 1st.
All the money raised will be donated to local animal shelters in the Tri-Cities. You can also donate dog and cat food or treats, or an extra check to help local vets care for injured or ill animals. Pet blankets and towels would be greatly appreciated as well. If you can't make it to the show, but still want to donate, contact Diane, Sandi, or Gloria!
If you have any questions, contact Gloria—who is also dancing in the show.
Kosmos Social Club annual membership fees are now due for the 2025-2026 year!
We ended the 2024-2025 Kosmos fiscal year with 77 members. The year-end list is included with the postal mail and e-mail versions of this newsletter. Board members' names are highlighted in yellow. We hope to grow even bigger and stronger this coming year!
Your annual donations are used to support Kosmos outings such as our Memorial Day and Labor Day picnics, and entititle you to a significant discount on tickets to our gala Christmas party.
Your membership renewal, accompanied by a Membership Form (also included with the postal mail and e-mail versions of this newsletter), can be mailed to Kosmos, P.O. Box 4506, Pasco WA, 99302, or can be given to one of our Leaders at any dinner or any other Kosmos event.
Membership Forms are also available on the Kosmos website, www.kosmossocialclub.com.
If your contact information (address, phone, e-mail) has not changed, you need only to insert your name and signature on the membership form, with your money or check. But a form MUST accompany your membership fee.
Please remember to call or text Carolyn W. or Donna W. by Sunday if you plan to attend any restaurant meal during the coming week. This enables us to give a more accurate count to the restaurant, so they are properly prepared for our group.
